The Buff Megamo Team multiple Dutch champion will be at the start of the tenth anniversary edition next August 28th to 31st
An outstanding name came to enhance the Rally di Sardegna MTB – Stage Race startlist. Dutch Hans Becking will take in the tenth anniversary edition, to be held next August 28th to 31st, on a route exploring the heart of Sardinia through Aritzo, Seulo, Sadali, Seui and Desulo territories. Becking, 38, is a five-time Dutch National champion and former winner of some of the most prestigious races in the World.
Considered one of the World best performers in MTB stage races, the Dutchman did not hesitate to say “yes” to the Rally di Sardegna MTB – Stage Race, this year part of the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) calendar, the highest international cycling organisation.
“I’m happy to schedule this new adventure in Sardinia – Becking said – in this Island that year by year goes on re-affirming itself as a land of cycling. We are going to ride in wonderful places, through uncontamined nature, ideal for cycling in complete tranquility. Events like these are perfect spots to bring cycling to new places and after all Sardinia is a perfect terrain for mountain biking everywhere, from the coasts to the mountains”.
This year the Dutchman was runner-up at the Andalucia Bike Race, paired with the European Champion Wout Alleman, who then preceded him at the Marathon Roc d’Ardenne. Becking likes the format of the Rally di Sardegna MTB too: “It’s very competitive and I really believe we will battle it out by pedaling from the first to the last meter. Sardinia returns to have its own high-level stage race, absolute excellence in Italy”, concludes the Dutchman.
Becking is the first high-sounding name announced by the organizers of the Sardinia MTB Rally – Stage Race.
